What is CAP?

Community Action Project

The Community Action Project (CAP) is the second phase of my US Department of State fellowship under the CSP (Community Solutions Program). It’s where fellows take what they’ve learned abroad and implement sustainable solutions in their home country.

WHAT IS CSP?

Community Solutions Program

CSP is a one-year global leadership development program that equips changemakers with the skills, experience, and network to drive impact in their communities.

Fellows participate in a four-month practicum in the U.S., gaining hands-on experience at host organizations while receiving training in executive leadership, project management, and community development.

Afterward, they return home to implement a Community Action Project (CAP)—a locally driven initiative addressing critical social issues. Through mentorship, funding, and collaboration, CSP empowers leaders to create sustainable change worldwide.

The New Logo

Did you know we selected Mental Matters for it's double meaning?

It’s not just about reminding everyone that mental health matters. It's also about the dialogue, conversations and discussions concerning emotional and mental health education.
This space was created for our community to speak honestly and openly to each other about the things that weigh on our minds and hearts, while also shining a light on the importance of emotional well-being.

CSP FELLOW 2024 - JAMAICA

From Washington, D.C. to New York, to Washington again and back home to Jamaica, my CSP journey has been about growth, connection, and impact. Through training, mentorship, and hands-on experience, I’ve developed a deeper understanding of mental health advocacy, conflict resolution, executive leadership, community engagement, and program development. Now, I’m putting it into action.

Why Mental Health Matters To Me

Mental Matters Logo.png
Mental Matters Logo (1).png

Mental health matters to me because I know what it’s like to carry things in silence. I’ve lived through grief, growth, and everything in between—and I’ve seen how much courage it takes to name what hurts and heal out loud.

This isn’t just something I talk about—it’s something I’ve lived. That’s why I built Motivate JA: to create a space I once needed. A space where stories are shared, shame has no place, and healing is held with care.

It matters to me, because in our society the culture would have us believe otherwise, but, people matter most.
