A Quiet Leave, A Big Return And A New Chapter To Share With You!

It’s Been a While — longer than I planned.
Truth is, I stepped back quietly… no announcement, no big post. Life just got heavy. And while things were silent here, I’ve been reflecting, listening, healing and gathering fresh energy.
If you’re receiving this, I am so grateful you’re still here with me.

Why did I disappear for four years?
Well… The short version is this: Life.
And, not in the “I got busy” sense we can all identify with openly.
I mean, the part of life we hide and don’t feel like we can share because we don’t hear many stories like ours.
The stories about the inability to get out of bed, eat, take care of yourself or even stop the tears sometimes.
I could no longer show up in this space and serve you, because I couldn’t serve myself.
I couldn’t lie to you and speak about mental health when mine was in shreds.
So, I hit pause, I stepped back — I sat with the emotions and allowed myself to break so I could release what was bottling up inside.

Did It Work?
Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to grow behind the scenes through a global fellowship with the U.S. State Department — connecting with changemakers from around the world

and digging deeper into how people like us and communities like ours can heal, speak up, and better support each other. Now, with renewed vision and a heart full of stories, I’m returning to the work — slowly, gently, backed by God and with intention!
I Think It did!
Here you are, reading this feature on our very own website! A goal I have had set down since 2016, which I started in 2020, but never had the strategic or mental know-how to finish until 2024. (8 years for such a simple task? Yes. This is the time F E A R steals.)
But my time as a Community Solutions Program Fellow really helped me to push to my growing edge.
Now, everything lives in one place — our events, our podcast, our stories, our upcoming plans and our soon-to-be-added Mental Health Catalogue, which will have useful resources and tools for you to access on the go.
Back With A CAP!
Back With A CAP
So here’s what’s been happening behind the scenes. As part of my Fellowship journey, it is a requirement for me to create a Community Action Project, or CAP for short.
For me, however, it’s not just a box to check or a project to submit. It’s a piece of my heart, shaped by what I’ve lived and what I know so many of us carry silently.
This CAP of mine is a response to what we don’t always say out loud: the moments we feel like we’re barely holding it together, the emotional weight we’ve normalised, and the gaps in support that leave too many of us struggling in isolation.
That’s why this campaign—Mental Health Matters—was born.
Through honest conversations, webinars, and workshops, we’re peeling back the layers. We’re talking about trauma, mental agility, emotional literacy, brave dialogue and how to show up for ourselves and our people when everything feels fragile.
It’s imperfect, real, and full of grace—just like the journey we’re all on.
So yes, I’m back—with a CAP!
And I’m hoping it helps someone exhale a little deeper, speak a little freer, and remember that we don’t have to do this alone.
Mental Matters New Season

We’ve missed the conversations, the connection, and the community behind the mic.
All season, we’ll be diving into honest, necessary topics around emotional wellness, language, trauma, and mental agility — in ways that feel real and relevant.
Thank You!
Whether you’ve been here since day one or are just finding your way here, I’m grateful. I hope this next chapter feels meaningful for you and us.
Love and Light,
Kyesha Randall
